The Russian steel and iron ore producer Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest) has released its production results for the first quarter of 2007.
Accordingly, during the period in question Metalloinvest's iron ore segment, which consists of Lebedinsky GOK and Mikhailovsky GOK, increased its iron ore concentrate production by one percent, its pellets production by 0.5 percent, its HBI production by 0.6 percent, and its sintering ore production by seven percent year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 9.4 million, 4.95 million, 267,800, and 654,200.
On the other hand, in the first three months of 2007 the company's steel division, which consists of OEMK and Ural Steel, was able to increase its production level. In particular, during the given period, OEMK and Ural Steel produced a combined total of 1.6 million metric tons of crude steel - up six percent, and 1.2 million metric tons of finished steel products - up six percent, and 641,900 metric tons of pig iron - up two percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
