MEE: Air quality in 142 Chinese cities up to standard in H1

China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) has issued a statement on the nationwide air quality situation for the January-June period of the current year, indicating that, of 337 cities monitored in China, the air quality in 142 cities was up to standard in the given period, 20 cities more than in the same period last year.

The MEE also stated that a second round of environmental protection inspections has started as of July 10, with eight environmental protection inspection teams implementing inspections in Shanghai, Chongqing, in the provinces of Fujian, Hainan, Gansu and Qinghai, and at China Minmetals Corporation and ChemChina. These teams will continue their inspection work for a period of one month.
