Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced that its subsidiary Izhstal, a specialty steel and stainless long products manufacturer, increased steel product sales in 2017 to Belarusian companies by 7,000 mt or 68 percent year on year.
Accordingly, Izhstal more than doubled its steel supplies to MAZ OAO, a leading plant in Belarus which produces truck tractors, drop-side trucks, chassis for installation of different special equipment and passenger buses. Izhstal's sales to the Belarus-based Gomselmash holding, which is among the world market leaders of combine harvesters and other complexes of agricultural machines, nearly tripled. Sales to other major agricultural machinery producers such as Agrostroi and Spetsagro, went up by 2.3 and 2.7 times accordingly. Supplies to Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant have tripled.
Izhstal sells its steel products to over 20 Belarusian facilities. Its primary product range includes long rolls from carbon, alloyed, stainless and high-speed steels, calibrated rolls and high-precision shapes.
According to Mechel, Izhstal was part of the agreement between the Udmurt Republic and Belarus for 2015-2017. The plant’s customers included major producers in the automobile, engineering, agricultural machine building and instrumental industries in Belarus.
