Mechel’s Izhstal increases exports in January-September

Russia-based specialty steel and stainless long products manufacturer Izhstal, a subsidiary of mining and steel group Mechel has announced that it shipped 42,000 mt of steel products in the January-September period this year to its foreign customers, up 81 percent year on year.

According to Izhstal, shipments to CIS member states went up by 22 percent to 22,000 mt, while exports to non-CIS destinations nearly quadrupled to reach 20,000 mt.

The plant’s products are exported to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, Turkey, the United States, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, France, the Czech Republic, Latvia and Bulgaria. Izhstal said that Belarus, one of the plant’s priority markets, accounts for over 30 percent of the plant’s exports. In the January-September period this year, Izhstal shipped 13,500 mt of products to Belarus, up 40 percent year on year.
