Mechel sees record coal supplies to Asia-Pacific region in H1

Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steel groups, has reported record results in supplying coal to the Asia-Pacific region in the first half of this year.

In the given period, Mechel exported 5.3 million mt of coal to markets in the Asia-Pacific region, which is the highest result in the company's history. In the same period of 2013, the company shipped approximately 3.8 million metric tons of coal to the Asia-Pacific region. In the first half of the current year, Mechel's coal exports to the region in question thus increased by 39 percent year on year, with the region accounting for 75 percent of its total coal exports.
