Mechel gets approval for revised schedule for Elga coal deposit

Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced that its revised schedule for the works for development of its Elga coal deposit has been approved by Russia's Federal Subsoil Resources Management Agency.

According to the revised conditions, the first stage of the 9 million mt washing complex's construction must be completed no later than August 1, 2017. The mining enterprise's first phase of an annual coal mining capacity of at least 9 million mt must reach designed capacity by no later than August 1, 2018.

The mining enterprise's second phase with an annual production capacity of no less than 18 million mt must reach designed capacity by the end of 2021.
