Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, a part of Russian mining and steel group Mechel, has restarted operations at the coke oven battery No. 8 at its subsidiary Mechel-Coke, which was halted on March 11 this year following an accident.

Accordingly, all the necessary repair works have been carried out, allowing the restart of the coke oven earlier than planned. Currently, the plant's coke shop No. 2, which includes the coke oven battery No. 8, is operating at its designed capacity, supplying Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant's blast furnace shop with the required coke output.  The temporary idling of the unit did not affect Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant's production program.
