Mechel awards equipment contact to Tenova

The Italian plantmaker Tenova has announced the receipt of a contract from the Russian steel producing and mining company Mechel for the supply of equipment related to the revamping of the melt shop No.23 at its subsidiary Izhstal.

The order consists of a complete line of equipment including electric arc furnace (EAF), ladle furnace vacuum degassing station, fume dedusting plant, water treatment plant and a material handling plant.

The nominal EAF capacity will be 40 mt with an hourly production rate of 56 mt.

Upon completion of the installation, the new line will be able to produce a total of 400,000 mt per year of low-alloy carbon steel grades, alloyed steel grades and stainless steel.
