Masteel to shut down two blast furnaces and two converters

Anhui Province-based Chinese steelmaker Masteel has announced that it will shut down two 500 cubic meter blast furnaces and two 40-mt converters permanently by the end of the current month of April, equivalent to 1.0 million mt of annual iron-making capacity and 1.28 million mt of annual steelmaking capacity. Meanwhile, Masteel said its finished steel output will decrease by 80,000 mt in May, including 2,000 mt of industrial wire, 18,000 mt of H-section steel and 60,000 mt of rebar and wire rod used in construction.
