Anhui Province-based Chinese steelmaker Maanshan Iron and Steel Group (Masteel) has announced that its sheet products for the automotive sector have been awarded ISO/TS16949 quality management system certification.

Mandated by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and the International Standard Organization (ISO), ISO/TS16949 not only combines ISO 9001 but includes automotive requirements from national and international quality standards (QS 9000, VDA 6.1, EAQF and AVSQ) along with contributions from British and Japanese automakers.

Masteel is currently a qualified supplier for Chinese car producers Chery Automobile, Jianghuai Automobile, Changan Automobie and Shanghai Automotive. In 2012, Masteel plans to make new breakthroughs in production of high-end products, including high-strength auto sheet and wheel steel.
