Marcegaglia to build new mill at Ravenna facility

Italy-based steelmaker Marcegaglia Group has announced that it has signed a contract with German plantmaker SMS Group, for the supply of a two-stand reversing cold mill for its Ravenna facility. In Ravenna, Marcegaglia produces cold rolled carbon steel sheets and strips for a variety of industries.

According to the company statement, the new mill at Ravenna will be able to process a wide range of materials, such as high-carbon and duplex steels, chrome-manganese alloyed steel and silicon steel, with an annual capacity of 550,000 mt.

Marcegaglia’s new mill at Ravenna is scheduled to begin operation by April 2020.
