Manganese ore exports via Port Hedland up 52.5% in Oct from Sept

In October this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 263,400 metric tons, increasing by 52.5 percent from 172,691 metric tons in September and up 103 percent compared to the same month of 2013, according to the monthly data released by the Port Hedland Port Authority.

Meanwhile, in October China was the leading destination for manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland, receiving 208,050 metric tons, up 114.1 percent compared to September and increasing by 278.3 percent year on year. China was followed by South Korea, which received 55,350 metric tons of manganese ore exports from Port Hedland in the given month.
 
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
