Malaysia’s iron and steel sales value up 16.9 percent in August

Malaysia's manufacturing sales value in August this year rose 1.8 percent compared to August 2011, to RM 51 billion ($16.7 billion), while in the January-August period of the year the country's manufacturing sales value recorded growth of 5.8 percent year on year, reaching RM 414 billion ($135.75 billion), according to Malaysia's Department of Statistics.

In August, the sales value of Malaysian basic iron and steel products totaled RM 2 billion ($652.25 million), increasing by 16.9 percent year on year and down 9.6 percent compared to July this year.
