Mair installs new pipe-welded line

According to latest market news, Russian steel processor Mair has decided to install a pipe-welding line at its Volgograd pipe mill. After the installation, the mill's monthly capacity will increase to 15'000 tons. Furthermore, the mill's production range will expand to 15-108 mm from 15-76 mm. Approximately $1 million will be invested to this project. Besides, Mair has installed a new strip cutting machine in July. With this installation, the mill has reduced its dependence on other Russian and Ukranian suppliers. Also, the company renovates its Sulinsky plant located in Rostov region in order to produce slab and sheet. Mair estimates that the Volgograd plant to produce 75'000 tons this year. In 2004, the production will reach to 100'000 tons. The company produces pipe for Russia's communal water and gas industry. Mair has no plan to export its production.
