Magang to invest RMB 30 billion in new production base in Chaohu

The Development and Reform Commission of the city of Chaohu in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui recently released a list of 30 key projects earmarked for construction in Chaohu in 2010. The projects in question include that of Maanshan Iron and Steel Co. (Magang) for the construction of a new steel production base with a planned annual capacity of three million mt of longs, to be built with a total investment of up to RMB 30 billion ($4.19 billion).

The Maanshan Yangtze River Bridge, which is now under construction, is expected to greatly shorten the traveling distance between Chaohu and Maanshan, thereby facilitating Magang's development on the other side of the river in Chaohu.
