L&T receives order worth Rupees 9.8 billion from Tata Steel

India-based Tata Steel has awarded an order worth Rupees 9.8 billion ($243 million) to India's largest engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the supply and installation of a blast furnace. The blast furnace in question is to be built in Kalinganagar, Orissa state, as a part of the expansion project to be carried out by Tata Steel.

In its press release concerning the order, L&T states, "Having a capacity of 3.2 million mt per annum this blast furnace will have a furnace volume of 4,300 cubic meters and will be the largest blast furnace in Tata Steel and the first of its kind in India. It is scheduled for completion in 40 months."
