Local Chinese steel product prices decline in late July except seamless pipe

In late July (July 21-31), the average prices in China of 16-25 mm HRB 400 rebar declined by 0.6 percent to RMB 4,010.2/mt ($587.0/mt), compared to prices in mid-July (July 11-20), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics. Wire rod lost 0.4 percent, while medium plate and HRC prices went down by 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively. Angles prices did not change much during the period in question.

At the same time, the average price of 219 mm x 6 mm seamless pipes was recorded at RMB 4,695.2/mt ($667.9/mt), up RMB 25.3/mt ($3.6/mt) or 0.5 percent compared to prices in mid-July.
