Liuzhou’s new coking oven produces first batch

On the afternoon of April 5, 2005, Liuzhou Steel’s 6-meter coking furnace, the largest coking furnace in Guangxi province, successfully turned out its first batch of coke. The new RMB 400 million ($48.33 million) furnace has become one of the focal points in the technical revolution that Liuzhou hopes will see the company realize six million tons of annual productivity. The 6-meter coking oven carries several advantages, including high efficiency, energy savings and environmental friendliness. All of its major indicators meet national standards. Moreover, RMB 70 million of the total investment has been set aside for environmental protection. Liuzhou’s output of iron, steel and steel products in 2004 broke three million tons. The company’s sales revenue exceeded RMB 10 billion. In 2005, Liuzhou Steel will strive to realize 4.5 million tons of steel output.
