Liberty Steel Group, part of the GFG Alliance, has announced the layoff of about 355 employees at its South Yorkshire and South Wales plants in the UK due to a decline in customer demand for UK steel products and challenging market conditions. Liberty Steel took this decision to ensure the long-term viability and competitiveness at South Yorkshire and South Wales, it said in a statement.

Liberty is creating a new company called GFG Workforce Solutions and will offer the employees impacted a new business opportunity within GFG Alliance or offer them voluntary redundancy.
