Liberty Steel announces new CEO of Primary Steel and Integrated Mining

UK-based Liberty Steel Group has announced that Paramjit Kahlon has assumed the role of CEO of its Primary Steel and Integrated Mining businesses.

Mr. Kahlon will be responsible for all Liberty Steel Group’s primary steel and integrated mining businesses located in Ostrava in the Czech Republic, Galati in Romania, and Whyalla and Tahmoor in Australia.

The company stated that he will primarily focus on dealing with the coronavirus crisis and, after that, he will ensure operations are sustainable in the long term via investments in lower carbon technologies such as hydrogen, direct reduced iron (DRI) and electric arc furnaces.

LIBERTY Steel Group, which employs 30,000 people across 10 countries, has 18 million mt of steel production capacity with three divisions namely, Liberty Primary Steel and Integrated Mining, Liberty Greensteel and Liberty Steel Synergies.
