Liberty Steel & Wire has laid off “a few dozen” employees this week at its Bartonville, Illinois plant, according to local news reports. Information from the local steelworkers union indicates that the layoffs are the result of supply shortage, in particular electrodes and zinc.

Laid off workers told local media the situation is “temporary,” but there is no timetable for workers to return.
