Liaoning’s steel exports more than double
The latest statistics from Shenyang Customs show that the steel exports of
China's Liaoning province increased 2.4 times to 2.2 million tons through January-May 2005. The trade value of exports reached $1.52 billion, up 2.7 times year on year. The steel exports accounted for 17% of the entire foreign trade in the province.
Asia,
Europe and
North America have been the main export destinations for Liaoning's steel. The exports to Asian countries (mainly
Korea,
Japan,
Taiwan and
Thailand) accounted for 77% of the total exports. Steel export to European countries (mainly Holland,
Italy and
Belgium) accounted for 10% of the total. Meanwhile, steel export to
North America accounted for 7% of the total.
Liaoning province exported 250'000 tons of steel raw materials (including ferromolybdenum,
pig iron, etc.) through January-May, 3.5 times higher than that of January-May 2004.
The province also exported 1.88 million tons of non alloy steel, with trade value reaching $999 million, up 2.3 times and 3.2 times respectively against the previous year.
