Jiangsu Province-based Chinese steel producer Lianxin Iron and Steel Co. (Lianxin Steel) has ignited its furnace for the production of nickel-added stainless steel in Dafeng Port Economic Zone, Yancheng, representing the completion of the first stage of the company's nickel-added stainless steel project.

The designed annual production capacity of the whole project is 500,000 mt of nickel-added stainless steel. The overall facilities will include a sintering shop, a 1,080 cubic meter blast furnace, a 120 mt converter, an air separation unit and a 220 KV transformer substation. The facilities will form a modern production line integrating sintering, melting, fining, concasting and tandem rolling processes, turning nickel-chromium pig iron into stainless steel.

The new facility will adopt various eco-friendly technologies including dust collection, energy-saving, and residual heat and waste utilization.
