Lazaro Cardenas named most efficient port in Latin America by Maersk

The container terminal of the Port of Lazaro Cardenas, operated by Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), was recognized as the most efficient in Latin America by shipping company Maersk Line. This port has grown 30 percent in the first five months of 2015 compared to the same period last year, and recently completed its second phase of construction, which required investment of US$165 million.

Francisco Orozco, Maersk’s Operations Manager in Latin America,said the terminal has a high quality in the operation of their vessels as well as an outstanding coordination, planning and safe loading and unloading of containers to be held in Lazaro Cardenas.

Furthemore, Grupo Maersk said that AMP Terminals, its operator of container terminals and subsidiary, is in the final stages of the construction of its enclosure at the port of Lazaro Cardenas; the first phase is planned to be completed by the middle of next year.
