Japanese steelmaker Kobe Steel Ltd (Kobe) has announced that it will close its 100 percent-owned subsidiary in Singapore, Kobe Steel Asia Pte. Ltd (KSA), in May this year in order to make its operations more efficient, integrating activities at one location in Southeast Asia.

In its statement, Kobe Steel said it will transfer the KSA business to Bangkok-based Kobelco South East Asia Ltd. (KSEA), which currently provides sales support and technical services for steel and aluminum products to its customers mostly in Thailand.

With this move, Kobe Steel aims to improve its customer services and business activities in the region.
