Kobe Steel to register consolidated extraordinary loss for Q3 FY 2011-12

Japanese steelmaker Kobe Steel has announced that it will register an impairment loss of JPY 13.2 billion ($171.01 million) due to decrease in value of its shareholdings, for the third quarter ending December 31 of the financial year 2011-12.

Kobe Steel will also post a consolidated extraordinary loss of JPY 13.8 billion ($178.8 million) for the same period.

The impairment loss in question will be posted as special expenses for the third quarter of the financial year 2011-12.
