Kloeckner Metals Corporation will officially open its new 106,000-square-foot flat rolled facility in University Park, Illinois on May 3.

The expanded facility will include new equipment such as a 72-inch slitter and a cut-to-length line with multiple cassettes to enable more efficient processing of heavy and light gauge materials. Additionally, the company’s existing equipment was rebuilt and remanufactured, with the latest in precision controls and software to insure close tolerance, cut-to-length and slitting work.

The expansion also includes increased crane capacity and a larger variety of metal products, and the new plant’s location provides ingress/egress convenience sitting along a railroad siding so material can be received directly from rail cars.

In a statement announcing the opening, Kloeckner said it is optimistic about doubling the size of this new facility within the next few years.
