Kazakhstan’s crude steel output down 20.5 percent in Jan-May

According to the State Statistics Committee of Kazakhstan, in the January-May period of the current year Kazakhstan produced 1.645 million mt of crude steel, down 20.5 percent year on year.

Production of rolled steel in Kazakhstan in the first five months of this year decreased by 7.7 percent to 1.266 million mt, while domestic production of iron ore in this period declined by 1.5 percent to 20.574 million mt, both year on year.

In the first five months of 2012, Kazakhstan saw its ferroalloy production decline by 0.3 percent year on year to 704,347 mt.
