Kazakhstan issues January-August 2008 production data

According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in the first eight months of 2008 the country registered a 0.8 percent decrease in its crude steel production, a 7.5 percent decrease in its production of flat rolled (including a 7.2 percent decline in tinplate and a 4.6 percent drop in galvanized steel), but a 2.3 percent rise in its ferroalloys production year on year.

The respective figures in metric tons were 3.162 million, 2.156 million (including 139,214 for tinplate and 387,411 for galvanized steel), and 1.159 million.
