Kazakhstan issues January production results

According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in January 2010 the country registered an 8.25 percent year-on-year increase in its crude steel production but a 7.8 percent year-on-year decrease in its production of flat rolled steel, to 290,087 mt and 212,560 mt respectively. Meanwhile, the country's tinplate production amounted to 17,256 mt - up 135.5 percent, and its galvanized steel output amounted to 45,700 mt - up 56.9 percent, both compared to January 2009.

In January this year, Kazakhstan's output of ferroalloys increased by 84.47 percent year on year to 148,223 mt, its iron ore pellets production went up by 365 percent to 738,900 mt, while its iron ore production increased by 200 percent to about 4.1 million mt, all compared to the data for January 2009.
