Kazakhstan issues Jan-Aug steel production data

According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in the first eight months of 2009 the country registered a 17.8 percent decrease in its crude steel production and a nine percent decrease in its production of flat rolled steel (including a 5.2 percent decline in tinplate), all compared to the data for January-August 2008. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.6 million and 1.96 million (including 132,037 for tinplate).
 
During the first eight months of 2009, Kazakhstan's output of ferroalloys declined by 22.6 percent year on year to 897,988 mt.
