Kardemir’s crude steel output up 12 percent in January-September

Turkish integrated long steel producer Kardemir Karabuk Demir Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Kardemir) has announced that in the January-September period of the current year its crude steel production increased by 12 percent to 1.65 million mt and its pig iron production rose by 14.1 percent to 1.44 mt, both compared to the same period of 2016. 

In the first nine months, the company’s rebar production increased by 10.4 percent to 480,000 mt, while its total rail, section and angle production amounted to 301,000 mt, up 10 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the same period, Kardemir’s total finished steel production increased by 31.4 percent year on year to 959,000 mt. Meanwhile, in the given period, the company produced 179,000 mt of bar-in-coil at its new rod and coil mill.

Kardemir also stated that in the first nine months of this year its total finished steel sales went up by 21 percent year on year to 1.74 million mt.

The company aims to continue its performance in the October-December quarter and to achieve a total production of 2.45 million mt of crude steel for the full year.
