On Monday, April 6, JSW Steel, one of India's largest steelmakers, said its crude steel production surged by 11 percent to 1.1 million mt during the fourth quarter of FY 2008-09 ended in March 2009, compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The company registered a crude steel output of 456,000 mt in March 2009, up 28 percent compared to the year-ago period.
Meanwhile, JSW Steel's crude steel production stood at 3.86 million mt in FY 2008-09; the figure was up by seven percent compared to the previous year, despite temporary cuts in November and December due to the global slowdown.
