JSW Steel’s crude steel output down two percent in April-December

JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, produced 2.70 million mt of crude steel in the third quarter ended December 31 of the financial year 2015-16, declining by 15 percent compared to the same period of the previous financial year, due to the shutdown of the blast furnaces at its Vijayanagar, Dolvi and Salem plants for capacity enhancement. The blast furnaces in the mentioned plants are expected to resume production in January or February this year.
 
According to the company's statement, in the October-December quarter JSW Steel produced 1.87 million mt of flat rolled products, falling 27 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous financial year, while its long rolled product output amounted to 630,000 mt, increasing by 26 percent year on year.
 
In the first nine months of the current financial year, JSW Steel's crude steel production amounted to 9.36 million mt, decreasing by two percent year on year.
