Germany-based plantmaker SMS Siemag has announced that it will revamp one of the two compact strip production (CSP) casters of the Indian steelmaker JSW Steel. The modernization of the CSP slab at the steelmaker's Dolvi steel plant in the Indian state of Maharashtra will boost production capacity from the current 3 million mt to more than 3.3 million mt per year.

SMS Siemag stated that the modernization will significantly increase the cost efficiency of maintenance and of spare parts stocking since the two continuous casters will be identical after the revamp.

The revamped slab caster is scheduled to be commissioned in the spring of 2015.
