JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, produced 16.27 million mt of crude steel in the financial year 2017-18 ended March 31, showing an increase of three percent year on year, achieving its highest-ever annual crude steel production. In the last quarter of the financial year, JSW Steel's crude steel output increased by five percent year on year to 4.31 million mt, constituting its highest-ever quarterly crude steel output. The company achieved 99 percent of its crude steel production guidance of 16.5 million mt for the given financial year.
According to the company's statement, in the financial year 2017-18 JSW Steel produced 11.44 million mt of flat rolled products, remaining almost stable, while its long rolled product output reached 3.56 million mt, up 11 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter the company produced 2.98 million mt of flat rolled products, remaining stable, while its long product output rose by 31 percent to 1.07 million mt, both compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
The company stated that it produced 1.52 million mt of crude steel in March this year, rising by five percent, 1.05 million mt of flat rolled products, remaining stable, and 370,000 mt of long rolled products, up 34 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In March this year, the company also achieved its highest-ever monthly crude steel production.
