Jiangsu Yonggang Group to build BOF steelmaking base with 20% reduction of capacities

Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu Province announced that Jiangsu Province-based Jiangsu Yonggang Group will newly build 3.61 million mt of iron-smelting capacity and 1.8 million mt of steelmaking capacity, including three 1,320 cubic meters blast furnaces and one 170 mt converter.

Meanwhile, Jiangsu Yonggang Group will eliminate 4.53 million mt of iron-smelting capacity and 2.28 million mt of steelmaking capacity, with the rest of capacities being allocated by itself after capacity replacement. As a result, the new production capacities will be at least 20 percent lower than existing ones.
