Japanese steelmaker JFE Steel Corporation has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary JFE Steel Galvanizing (Thailand) has begun operating a continuous galvanizing line at the company's production facility in Hemaraj, Rayong Province. Commercial production will begin following customer approvals. The construction of the new line started in October 2010.

The galvanizing line will produce hot dip galvanized steel sheets with an annual capacity of 400,000 mt mainly for the automotive industry. The galvanized steel sheets range between 0.4-2.3 mm in thickness and between 800-1,880 mm in width.

Strengthened by its new continuous galvanizing line in Thailand, JFE Steel will support the expansion plans of automakers by meeting their requests for local procurement and increasingly sophisticated products and services.
