JFE Shoji Steel America, Inc, subsidiary of Japanese steelmaker JFE Steel, has announced that it has signed a joint venture agreement with French-based R Bourgeois SA to supply electrical steel sheet to the growing electric car industry in North America.

According to JFE Shoji's statement, it is expected that the demand for hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles in the US, which is forecast at about 600,000 units per year currently, will expand more and more toward the year of 2020, due to government subsidies for purchasers of these vehicles.
