In January this year, Japan’s iron and steel product exports amounted to 2.47 million metric tons, falling by 7.8 percent month on month and rising by three percent year on year, according to the customs statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Regarding Japan’s major iron and steel product export markets, in the given month the country’s iron and steel exports to South Korea totaled 465,873 metric tons, up 16.6 percent, while exports to China decreased by 32.8 percent to 202,084 metric tons, the export volume to Taiwan amounted to 112,225 metric tons, down by 18.2 percent, exports to Thailand totaled 391,028 metric tons, rising by 23.1 percent, while exports to the US totaled 97,125 metric tons, increasing by 19.4 percent, all year on year.
