According to the data released by the
Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in July this year decreased by 17.7 percent on tonnage basis compared to the previous month, falling to 35 ships compared to 38 ships recorded in June, totaling 1.2 million gross tons, consisting of one product carrier, two cargo ships and 32 bulk carriers. In July 2012,
Japan's new ship export orders totaled 13 ships with 479,037 gross tons.
At the end of the first seven months of the current year, Japanese shipbuilders' order books for export totaled 201 ships, with a total tonnage of 8.2 million gross tons, more than double year on year.
Meanwhile, in July,
Japan delivered 24 ships totaling 1.1 million gross tons for export, decreasing from 30 ships totaling 1.3 million gross tons recorded in June this year. In the first seven months of this year,
Japan delivered 190 ships for export, totaling 8.5 million gross tons, decreasing by 22.65 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
