According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in May this year rose by 37.3 percent on tonnage basis compared to the previous month, increasing to six ships, compared to five ships recorded in April, totaling 304,100 gross tons, including three bulk carriers, two tankers and a general cargo ship.
In the first five months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 58 ships with an aggregate of 2.6 million gross tons, down 35.8 percent year on year.
On the other hand, in May this year Japan delivered 15 ships for export, totaling 605,298 gross tons, compared to 26 ships totaling 1,160,959 gross tons recorded in April.
Meanwhile, in the January-May period of the current year, Japan delivered 128 ships for export, totaling 5,944,436 gross tons, rising by 5.2 percent year on year.
