According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in August this year increased by 161.8 percent on tonnage basis compared to the previous month, increasing to 21 ships, compared to 18 ships recorded in July, totaling 1.528,699 gross tons, including 12 bulk carriers, four general cargo ships and five tankers.
In the first eight months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 137 ships with an aggregate of 6.55 million gross tons, up 3.9 percent year on year.
On the other hand, in August this year Japan delivered 18 ships for export, totaling 905,228 gross tons, compared to 11 ships totaling 364,287 gross tons recorded in July.
Meanwhile, in the January-August period of the current year, Japan delivered 139 ships for export, totaling 6.92 million gross tons, falling by 18.2 percent year on year.
