Japan's new ship export orders down in January from December

According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in January this year decreased by 18.8 percent on tonnage basis compared to December, falling to 18 ships, compared to 20 ships recorded in December, totaling 745,150 gross tons, including 17 bulk carriers and a tanker.

In January last year, Japan's new ship export orders had totaled 14 ships amounting to 675,700 gross tons.

On the other hand, in January this year Japan delivered 34 ships for export, totaling 1.78 million gross tons, rising from eight ships totaling 483,991 gross tons recorded in December. In January 2019, Japan's new ship deliveries for export had totaled 25 ships with 784,676 gross tons.
