According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in September this year decreased by 31.9 percent on tonnage basis compared to August, remaining stable at six ships, compared to six ships recorded in August, totaling 188,900 gross tons, consisting of five bulk carriers. In September last year, Japan's new ship export orders had totaled 40 ships amounting to 1.52 million gross tons.
In the first nine months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 59 ships with an aggregate of 2.77 million gross tons, down 82 percent year on year.
On the other hand, in September this year Japan delivered 23 ships for export, totaling 1.12 million gross tons, rising from 21 ships totaling 607,809 gross tons recorded in August. In September 2015, Japan's new ship deliveries for export had totaled 29 ships with 992,660 gross tons.
Meanwhile, in the January-September period of the current year, Japan delivered 237 ships for export, totaling 9.94 million gross tons, rising by six percent year on year.
