According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in February this year fell by 10.7 percent on tonnage basis compared to the previous month, decreasing to 12 ships, compared to 18 ships recorded in January, totaling 665,000 gross tons, including five bulk carriers, five tankers and two general cargo ships.
In the first two months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 30 ships with an aggregate of 1.41 million gross tons, up 1.4 percent year on year.
On the other hand, in February this year Japan delivered 29 ships for export, totaling 1,305,166 gross tons, compared to 19 ships totaling 1,112,210 gross tons recorded in January.
Meanwhile, in the January-February period of the current year, Japan delivered 63 ships for export, totaling 3,085,122 gross tons, rising by 62.6 percent year on year.
