According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroalloy imports totaled 111,960 metric tons in September this year, decreasing by 39.7 percent month on month and down 24.7 percent compared to September 2011.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of 2012, Japan's ferroalloy imports amounted to 1.27 million metric tons, decreasing by 5.4 percent year on year.
In the first nine months, Japan's ferroalloy imports from South Africa fell 7.6 percent compared to the same period last year to 275,169 metric tons, while China exported 218,779 mt of ferroalloy to Japan in the January-September period this year, down 12.7 percent year on year. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's ferroalloy exports to Japan in the period in question fell by 14 percent year on year to 240,681 mt.
