Japanese crude steel output up 3.5 percent in January over December

In January this year, Japanese crude steel production was up 3.5 percent compared to the previous month and increased 0.3 percent compared to January 2017, totaling 9.03 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). 

Meanwhile, in January this year, Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.86 million metric tons, rising by 4.2 percent compared to the previous month and decreasing by 0.9 percent year on year.
