In June this year, Japanese crude steel production was down 4.9 percent compared to the previous month, while it decreased by 1.8 percent year on year, totaling 9.12 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). Meanwhile, in June Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.85 million metric tons, decreasing by five percent compared to the previous month and down 0.6 percent year on year.
In the first half of the current year, the country's pig iron output stood at 41.18 million metric tons, decreasing by 0.7 percent, while its crude steel production came to 55.22 million metric tons, increasing by 0.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
