In April this year, Japanese crude steel production was down four percent compared to the previous month and down 0.4 percent compared to April last year, totaling 8.72 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, in April of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.33 million metric tons, falling by 5.6 percent compared to the previous month and decreasing by 2.8 percent year on year.
In the January-April period of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 26.07 million metric tons, down 0.6 percent, while its crude steel production came to 35.12 million metric tons, rising 0.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
